Roberts Bathrooms

April 25, 2008 · Filed Under business · Comment

I can remember my Dad first telling me about Roberts Bathrooms when we were renovating our house several years ago and looking for bathroom suites. I think I’m right in saying it’s a long established business based in Birkenhead and it’s recently been acquired by Liverpool based CMB Distributors.

As we seem to have our fair share of bathroom showrooms on The Wirral I guess I’ll be mentioning similar websites in the months ahead.

Copy House Writing Services

Anyone who publishes articles, flyers, adverts and such like will be familiar with the phrase copy writing. It’s a good skill and can be sometimes tricky - if you write pay-per-click (PPC) ads in Google or Yahoo! then you’ll know what I mean.

You can outsource your copy writing to businesses such as as Wirral based Copy House who specialise in writing copy for you on a freelance basis. I stumbled upon the site earlier this morning and I see that Copy House offer a range of writing services.

By the way, if you need help with online advertising I can help you get started. Yahoo! are currently running a £50 free credit promotion too.

KJP Images

Wirral based photographer Kris John Pendlebury is the publisher of KJP Images - a wedding & portrait photography business. As the summer wedding season quickly approaches I can only presume that it’s a potentially busy time for our local wedding photographers!

Meridian Publishing

Not sure how I found this site now, but isn’t it interesting what some Wirral businesses do?

Meridian Publications say that they are:

a business to business publisher specializing in high quality media for the transportation and corporate sectors.

Covering niche markets of aviation and maritime amongst others, Maritime offer a range of publishing services - including internet services, so that’s some competition for me then.

Good to see a company from Bromborough offering specialist services over the internet.

Wirral Vans

Confession: I have some interest in this item as I developed the website.

My old mate Mike Mitchell runs his successful used vehicles business - MJM Light Commercials - from a unit on the Carr Lane Industrial Estate in Hoylake. As Mike wanted to gain additional exposure for his business he asked me to develop a website for him - so that’s just what I did and my efforts can be seen at Wirral Vans.

The site has been live for a month or three now and Mike has already seen a healthy stream of visitors to the site - not just from The Wirral but from all over the UK!

Now I know not everyone needs a van but if you do there’s this very nice van man

Reliance Marine

The honour of being our very first submit my site request goes to yacht chandlers Reliance Marine

Dave Turner from Reliance asked us to include his site and as it ticks all the right boxes (our inclusion criteria) we’re happy to include the site.

What I never knew that in addition to the very visible Reliance Marine building at the edge of Marine Lake in West Kirby, Reliance also run a mail order, distribution warehouse and retail outlet at Carr Lane Industrial Estate, Hoylake.

I note that Reliance Marine have sensibily acquired both the .com and the .co.uk extensions of their domain name - something that we always recommend as an element of your search marketing strategy.

Jim The Artist

Whilst waiting to get my haircut earlier today I was reading a copy of Cheshire Life. Inside was an article that I didn’t actually get chance to read but because it referenced West Kirby I noted the domain name.

Jim Fleming is Jim The Artist is a West Kirby based artist who, by looking at some samples on his website, has produced some great pictures of local businesses. Before reading all of his site the painting style seemed vaguely familiar to me - then I read that Jim is somewhat inspired by well known artist Paul Klee.

I suggest to go take a look at Jim’s site to find out what he could paint for you.

Dee Estuary Birds

April 16, 2008 · Filed Under individual · Comment

Richard Smith runs his own bird watching site called Dee Estuary Birds and includes news of the latest bird sightings, presumably down by the river Dee. I quite often pass twitchers (is that right?) when I’m running along the beach between Red Rocks and Riversdale Road and I usually exchange a friendly nod.

The site includes an extensive newsletter archive dating back to 1998 - that’s some bird sighting!

The Wirral Society

The Wirral Society is an enviromental organisation setup many years ago with the object of protecting the natural beauty, architecture and flora and fauna of the Wirral Peninsula.

The links page includes some useful references to other Wirral environmental and civic organisations. You’ll also find some photos of Wirral landscapes and a news page. Shame there’s no blog though.
